LED is becoming a very popular option in lighting systems all around. You may have heard the term LED before, but are not sure of the benefits beyond the energy savings. While efficiency is the most important benefit for many homeowners, there are several more that add to the lighting equation, and that’s inclusive of our outdoor lighting systems as well.
Outdoor Lighting Perspectives has been manufacturing light-emitting diode, or LED, outdoor lighting fixtures using the U.S. made CREE brand chips for a couple of years now. These top-quality chips give our LED technology the longevity, efficiency and environmental friendliness that make our lighting stand out, literally. How do they do all this? Here’s how:
Longevity: The process by which LEDs produce light differs from traditional lighting. LEDs produce a cold light while traditional bulbs use heat to produce a light. That means LEDs will not overheat, and the life of the bulb will be extended. In fact, our LEDs last up to 50,000 hours – 40 times longer than traditional bulbs. In addition, they are more resilient than other types of outdoor bulbs, and react better to changes in temperature and other environmental elements.
Efficiency: Energy-efficiency is probably what you know best about LEDs. LEDs do in fact use less energy, and ours use up to 80% less energy, which saves you money.
Environmentally-friendly: Since our LEDs last longer, they reduce the amount of waste every year. They are also easier to dispose of and recycle since they contain NO mercury, and they give off much less carbon dioxide emissions. All of these factors combined lead to a smaller carbon footprint left on our environment.
Adding the equation together shows that LEDs really are the way to go, but the final decision ultimately comes down to the effect of the lighting. When you are making an investment in quality outdoor lighting, you want to be sure the light output looks natural and is highlighting the uniqueness of your property. Unlike older LED technology that gave off a blue tint and inadequate illumination, our LEDs produce a warm color and brightness that is indistinguishable from traditional halogen outdoor lighting.
If we’ve piqued your interest and you’re ready to talk LED, give us a call. We can answer any questions you may have or discuss your options. Even if you own a halogen lighting system from Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Naples or someone else, we talk about retrofitting it with the new LED technology. (239) 970-9554
