Jim Hilliard was born and raised in Plant City, Florida. Jim graduated from Florida Southern College in 1979 where he met the love of his life Vicki and moved to Ohio to take a sales position with Lanier Business Products. After 30 years as a sales rep, sales manager & district manager he left to go in business for himself with his friend of 25 years Tom Fenig. Tom left Lanier in 1993 to start Lightscapes. A year later 1994 and was looking to franchise the business and who else to test the process with than someone you know and trust, his good friend Jim. After a couple years the franchise took place, and the company was renamed to Outdoor Lighting Perspectives.

Jim’s office has received the top franchise award in 2000 & 2001, highest increase award 2010, 2011, 2017 & 2019 & 2021 highest service response award 2010, 2011, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020 & 2021, consistently maintaining a Google (5 star) rating. Jim’s has also been one of the most reliable franchisees as well as has consistently been in the top ten office in the company every year since the beginning. Jim has held many roles in the design & improvement of the franchise system with Tom over the years including the Advisory Council in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020 & 2021. Jim also won the new honor of the Best in Show Project of the year in 2020, with the “Haussler Castle home”.

Jim spent 15 years coaching his son in the Centerville area in football with the Centerville Wee Elks & basketball with the Centerville Basketball Club. He also spent 15 years coaching his daughter Amber with the Centerville Lady Elks, The Centerville Softball Club and The Dayton Lady Hoop Stars (the local AAU Program). Jim also spent many hours at cheerleading events, dance recitals, chaperoning high school dances & countless wrestling events.

When Jim is not working, he spends most of his free time now with his wife Vicki and their family, especially his grandkids as with the fact his kids have all grown up now. Jim likes to hunt, fish, ride motorcycles, spend time with Vicki in the UTV/side-by-side out in the woods or spend as much time possible at Lake Cumberland on the boat (No Voltage 4.6) or in the RV somewhere with the family seeing the beauty the world offers.

Vicki was born and raised in Kettering Ohio. She attended Fairmont East High School where she was involved in many activities. Upon graduation, she headed south to attend Florida Southern College in Lakeland Florida. Staying active in her college years was attributed to her being a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She even served as president during her senior year. With diploma in hand, she ventured back home to pursue a career in education.

Vicki and Jim married in 1980 and move to the Centerville area where she began her teaching career at West Carrolton High School. Although she taught a variety of science courses, much of her career was spent teaching chemistry. Vicki felt it was important to become an active member in her school community. She helped wherever she was needed. This included coaching the drill team in her early years, being graduation advisor and chaperoning countless number of dances and activities. She was also selected as the Science Department Chairperson for several years.

Vicki joined Outdoor Lighting Perspectives in 1994 when Jim left the corporate world and joined forces with Tom Fenig, founder of the landscape lighting business. Since 1994, she has been responsible for the books, marketing, the day-to-day operations, customer interactions, and anything needed for Outdoor Lighting Perspectives to be successful in dealing with customers. Upon retiring from teaching in 2011, Vicki has become one of the full time faces for Outdoor Lighting Perspectives. She is a main reason we are as successful as we are today. She continues to run the day-to-day operations to keep the business running smoothly as well as the Hilliard household. Wow, she is even responsible for the employee Holiday Dinner in their home, which is the most important day of the year according to Justin, our Installation Manager.

JP has been a member of Outdoor Lighting Perspectives team since March 2007. JP started at Patio Supply in 2002 prior to us taking over in 2007 and came with a wealth of knowledge and tremendous work ethic. His duties and responsibility include ordering products (Inventory) and to make sure they are available as needed, meeting with contractors, the designers, and the homeowners to help with product selection and coordinating deliveries to make sure everything runs smoothly and completed on time.

In his free time, JP enjoys taking trips with this girlfriend Beth, hunting & working on his family’s farm and watching the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds. JP has been like family ever since he became a part of our team.

A member of Outdoor Lighting Perspectives team since March 1999. Bob spent many years as a store manager for a home automation and stereo company in Centerville, Ohio. Bob is one of the most important links in our customers relationship from the beginning to the end of the project. Bob earned a bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1990. For the last 25 years, Bob has worked closely with our customers, the architect & the property manager, to design & demonstrate how the lighting design will meet our customer’s expectations in every way. He also works with the install team to make sure the project is installed as designed to meet all quality specifications.

In his spare time, you can find Bob on one of his motorcycles exploring some part of the world or on his orange tractor improving his part of the world. Bob enjoys hunting, camping, photography, and spending time outside on some new project.

A member of Outdoor Lighting Perspectives team since 2016. Justin is a graduate of Fairmont High School In 2005. Right out of school learning customer service and customer relations. Justin spent the first years of his working life in the landscaping industry learning how the make customers enjoy their outdoor space. Justin has 7 years of electrical and lighting experience from our company to go with a wealth of knowledge from previous employment.

As our Lead Lighting Installation & Service Manager at Outdoor Lighting Perspectives Justin’s job is to make sure your lighting is problem free and fixed or installed to the highest standards. Justin is C.O.L.T. Certified (Certified Outdoor Lighting Technician) with Outdoor Lighting Perspectives and assists in making sure all employees are making things are as smooth as possible for our customers. Justin is also trained in Lighting Control Automation with all products including X-10, LCA, digital timers, photo eye timers and K.A.S.A controls.

Jordan Jones, born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, graduated from Wayne High School in 2016. While attending Wayne Jordan was on the Soccer team for many years. After graduation Jordan spent a few years with Spectrum doing installation of TV products and making sure they work as planned.

He now plays an important role on our installation team. Where he works hard to make sure he goes above and beyond the customer’s expectations.

In his spare time, he enjoys working on his and buddies’ cars. If not, alone you can find him with his girlfriend visiting many local food establishments around the Dayton area.

Originally from West Lafayette, Ohio, Jarrod moved to the Dayton area after graduating from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2015. Jarrod has 5 years of experience in the service industry working on electrical systems including lighting systems, fountains and in landscape lighting.

As a service technician for Outdoor Lighting Perspectives Jarrod’s job is to troubleshoot and fix issues on existing lighting systems. Jarrod is C.O.L.T. Certified with Outdoor Lighting Perspectives.

In his free time Jarrod enjoys hunting, fishing, kayaking & woodworking in his shop at home.
