Decorative Lighting With Special Fixtures By Outdoor Lighting Perspectives Of Kansas City

Once again our own John Bruce delivered insightful information regarding outdoor lighting. In his 4th appearance onKCLTV, which was aired on June 1st, the topic was Decorative Lighting with Special Fixtures. For this segment John brought examples and photos of decorative lighting options and special fixtures Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Kansas City offers.

As you know our lighting designs are typically created with the core idea of “focus on the effect, not the fixture”, but as John mentioned, there is always an exception to the rule. Special fixtures which are used to create decorative lighting such as: Illuminated globes; café or festival lighting and the Attraction Lights (fixture sample John brought to the show) distinctive lighting fixtures which provide excellent LED lighting and can stand alone as incredible works of art….are all definite exceptions to the rule. You can watch thefull segment about decorative outdoor lighting on Kansas City Live below:

The Illuminated globes work in any design where you would consider paper lanterns. These globes are illuminated spheres which appear to float as they are hung on different branches at different heights in trees or sometimes on porches. As John mentioned they come in a variety of colors, so for one client during the holidays, he used a red globe along with white starbursts and snowflakes in an entryway to give the look of red and white ornaments. While we wouldn’t substitute these for landscape lights for general outdoor lighting, they are whimsical and visually interesting.

One of our most popular decorative lighting fixtures is the café string lighting or Coney Island type of light, as John refers to them. Popular outdoor uses for these overhead soft-glow, string lights include backyard decks, patios and courtyards as they convey a festive atmosphere for lots of dining, cocktails, mingling and conversation. With these café lights over your deck and patio, you can even completely clear these areas to create a dance floor and a spot for the DJ, so you and your guests can dance the night away.

Sometimes a space needs an artistic element during the day and lighting in same space at night. With a unique light fixture by Attraction Lights, you get both in 1 unit. These wonderful artistic illuminating elements are as intriguing as they are captivating. Made in a pagoda-like style, these post shaped fixtures have pattern styles available in geometric, abstract, or nature-like designs which are formed within the metal housing. A light source hidden inside the cap casts a distinct light and shadow pattern on the surfaces surrounding the light fixture adding drama and beauty to any area in which they are installed, while helping to direct the eye through the landscape.

Decorative lighting options are just another way we strive to offer you the most choices when creating a lighting system for your home and surrounding property. Outdoor lighting is all we do, but we don’t provide just lights, we work with you to custom design a lighting system that meets your specific needs, so you’re sure to enjoy your Kansas City space night after night.
